wmm - 2 audio tracks? (orig. voice deleting software)

Postby himitsu on Thu May 26, 2011 2:43 pm

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question, seemed most appropriate to me..
Anyway, we are trying to make an English anime fandub for the culture festival, and I have a problem with the software (again ^^'). I roughly know how to do it (never done it before though), but I don't know how to delete the voices from the original video without losing the music and sound effects. I've checked several google and youtube hits, but couldn't find the solution yet.
Has anyone done anything like that before?

Windows Movie Maker will let you do that if you are the one who actually put the music into the video. I don't think it will separate music from voice if you throw an ordinary video into the program.

Himitsu, are you talking about a video or audio clip. For an audio clip, like mp3, there are a ton of Karaoke type tools online that will remove voice from a track, but as for a video clip, I'm clueless.

Maybe some of the other geeks on this forum might have some clues?

good luck. if you listen to some (definitely in older ones) anime in both languages you can find it quite apparent that the japanese and english sound effects are completely different because they didnt have a verion without a voice track when they tried to dub it. you could buy the soundtrack if its released and put it back in with your own sound effects.

heres some song link that you have probably already checked.

oh boy, is it that difficult? Can`t believe there`s no software that separates the voice track from the rest...
thanks for the link, will check it out.
it`s an anime video, not mp3.I wonder if it`s possible to take only the sound track (with music, voices, effects) as an mp3, and then remove the vocals... and then put it back with movie maker without the voices..
still seems a long way to go ^ ^ ``

its just physically not a very viable thing to do, since all the sound is meshed into one set of waves, even if you know how to do it, id imagine the program would be expensive and it sounds really difficult to me, but idk. im sure theres an easy way to get all the sound files into an mp3 format though. or you could try just plugging the sound device from something playing the video into a computer mic jack and use a sound recorder. ive never tried anything like that though.

never mind that use of the mic jack for getting it into mp3, that wont help you. it would make it mono, and that would make it impossible.

think I found a solution, I converted the video using Switch into an mp3, then I used audacity to delete the vocals (still there, but barely audible). Will see if it's good enough.

Is there voice deleting software you can use on actually people, besides gaffer tape? I wish. It would be most useful.

It is not possible to completely delete the vocals from a song. I too have tried it and read through many forums on the web, and they all said that it is not possible to complete delete vocals from any song to make a track.

A new problem appeared, in Windows Movie Maker, I don't seem to be able to have 2 different audio tracks (added by me) running at the same time (with the orig. audio track on mute)?! But must be possible, no?
