What do you do in your free time?

Anything pertaining to situations inside of the school, but outside of the classroom.

Yup. I'm teaching in high school now. I'm mostly a kickboxing/MMA guy but I know some tricks that will make these kids into Manny Pacquiao

Nice, I like the mma too, but boxing would do just fine! Could learn alot form their routine, drills and use the facilities....for free. I may have to consider high school....again jealous.

(First post ever… yay!)

I am just starting to remember what free time is. For the past year I have been working in Elementary schools and they always gave me lots to do. Now that I have moved back to JHS and two days of the week I only have one class I am hit with the reality of free time again. For now I am doing my best to look busy, but I can feel my affinity for that quickly running out. I think starting soon I will pick a random Japanese novella and translate it from Japan little by little. It will keep my busy and keep up my Japanese skills.

Welcome to the forums, Jeisensei.

You know, there are a ton of ES activities needing to be translated over on the Englipedia website... I would dare say ALL the Eigo Noto games need translating, if you wanted to take a crack at some...

Thanks for the warm welcome. That actually sounds like a good idea if there are games in Japanese that need translation into English. I will look into that. Thanks again!

Nah, just the opposite. There are games in English that need to go into Japanese.

No pressure or anything. Just if you're going to sit down with a book and translate it for practice, I thought your 'practice' could serve to be useful to a ton of ALTs/JTEs/HRTs all across Japan. Just something to think about...

Mostly prepare things for class, as I teach both college and JHS, I need to use all the prep time I can get.

When I do get free time, I usually watch other teachers' lessons, surf the net (this is the one job I've had here where no one really gives a shit about it, as long as I'm getting my shit done), or talk to students between classes.

Mooloo's message was a bit cryptic to me, too. What he meant to say is he is volunteering his time editing on the Englipedia website. :)
