New Horizon of the Future

Postby jeisensei on Wed Oct 19, 2011 3:59 pm

As I was poking around the internet today I came upon this book:

http://www.tokyo-shoseki.co.jp/books/miraikei/index.php

It is a retake of the New Horizon series for those that are older and more advanced in English. There is even an iPhone app that goes along with this book that somehow does some augmented reality with the book. Has anyone heard of this? There is not a lot of information, but it looks interesting to me. (Maybe it was the Bandai Namco Games label on a text book that really got my attention?) What do you guys think?

This looks like an app for Ipods.

This looks like the nugget who created it:

If I'm reading correctly, he tried to continue the NH story for when the characters in the textbooks grew up. Personally, I think it's a horrible story to begin, so to want to continue it is quite questionable.

Seriously people, get out of your pathetic otaku (no relation to me) rabbit holes and interact with people. You can't learn a language by reading a comic book. No other subject in school uses a 'manga' approach, why must the English language be subjected to it?

But, what do I know? The guy's a college professor. BTW, I had some college professors that looked like this guy. Kinda creepy looking if you ask me.

Well, it has an app for iPod that goes will it, but it is not unnecessary. It supposedly uses augmented reality, which is way to gimmicky to actually be useful.

It really looks like fantasy, moral education and English class rolled all up into one. Gag me with an entire place setting!

I can't find the app in the Apple App Store...

I'll be quite honest, I think it's a grand-idea.

Are you in the Japanese app store? I haven't looked myself, but I just might.
