While 'How Bizarre' won song of the year in 1996, 'Stole my Car' went unrecognised by the establishment. Disgraceful.
The only comedy cover I`ve heard in NZ that comes close to that was a Cover of Eminen`s 'Stan' which was "sung" by Christian Cullen and John Mitchell. That shit was classic.

New Horizon Grade 3 Unit 2 Page 13

Judy: Do you play the shamisen, Shin?
Shin: No, I don't. But my brother Ryo plays very well.
Judy: Oh, really? How long has he played the shamisen?
Shin: He has played for ten years.
Judy: I want to hear his shamisen.

Due to the vagaries of the NH textbook I always have a problem with the last line of the dialog. I don't want to hear Ryo's shamisen, it does nothing, now then I could want to hear Ryo play his shamisen, but the teachers always insist that because they will learn the "play his" part in HS English, there is no reason to teach it now.

Had one teacher yesterday have the kids make up their own dialog, similar to this, just changing the action and names. Guess what happened?

Judy: Do you play the soccer, Shin?
Shin: No, I don't. But my brother Ryo plays very well.
Judy: Oh, really? How long has he played the soccer?
Shin: He has played for ten years.
Judy: I want to watch his soccer. :dunce: :brick:

When I started laughing, quietly under the tree, prior to dying, the teacher asked me what was funny. I had the kids do the skit for her and she acted like nothing was wrong.

Ahh the joys of JHS!

Yeah, that sentence sounds weird to me. It makes me believe his shamisen is alive and can play by itself.

LOL! Yeah, cuz teaching correct English apparently isn't needed now. I keep telling people that MEXT purposely chooses these textbooks because they won't help the students learn English because if they did many Japanese would probably leave Japan for good. <--My conspiracy theory.

Hmmm, making sure your peeps don't leave the country so that you can have a better/stronger nation. Interesting.

Japan does have historically hermetic tendencies doesn't she?

Or they are all just incompetent in the Education sector.

Almost a decade of English learning and so many still can't speak the language.... there has to be something messed up, conspiracy or not.
