Be lookin'!

Postby Otaku on Wed Nov 16, 2011 12:48 pm

I've been pretty quiet on the forum lately because I have been trying to complete a new review activity for my JHS students. It's an updated version of JUMP THRU HOOPS that is already on the site.

Be lookin' for it on the homepage today because this activity is the shizznick of activities for the students.

It's the kind of activity that students will continue to work on even during their breaktime because it's addictive like little boys are to Catheolic priests and bishops.

This is the end-all of ALL activities you could possibly do in your English class.

Be lookin'...

It was up but it seems like a Project Manager and I accidently crossed paths and it got deleted. I'm loading it back to the homepage now.

Alright, giggidy. Your hype building level has increased. Soon you might rival the king of pop! Just don't dangle your future baby over the balcony, or announce a comback tour and overdose.

Looks like a great class race! Lots of excitement could be cooked up for sure. About how long did it take your class to do Jump Through Hoops pt. 1 Otaku?

Version 1 of the this activity takes about 20-25 minutes. Version 2 is much harder. I tested it out in one of my Grade 3 Handicap classes (one student). I pitted the JTE versus the student. The student was actually faster than the teacher because the teacher got stuck on the first puzzle (cursive area). <--I think that frustrated the teacher. DOH!

I have yet to do the WHOLE Version 2 with a full class but the Special Needs student took about 10 minutes to complete puzzle one AND he was focused the entire time.

BTW, I'm in the process of reloading Version 2 again because I'm adding a Cursive Alphabet Toolbox to the first puzzle.

Ok, wondering because it is such a stand alone activity, it is hard to pair it with something fitting to make up for a full 50 mins. If you get what I mean.

Good to have on hand incase you are ambushed with a lesson! Or maybe as a reward to the kiddies!

Can't say I'm entirely comfortable with the activity being called "Jump THRU hoops". English language teaching professionals and all of that. I dunno.

I guess it's good that I removed the title from the worksheet on Version 2. :)
