Hidden 'bored' section

Postby azuhl on Tue Nov 22, 2011 1:53 pm

I propose a hidden 'bored' section. I see the arcade, but being a 'company' man, I don't think I can get away with flagrently playing games. So, a place where we can section off interesting links we find under topics and headings, kind of a hobbies area. Tips on preparing emergency bags and what kind of equipment to have to hand. Interesting personal experiences all nicely filed away in their own sub-topics.

I know this could be covered under general or the grave, but I think it might work.

What cant you post in the Grave that you would want to have it's own sub-fora for?

Technology, Religion, Political issues, General living in Japan advice (life hacks), coupons...that kind of stuff. I just think it'd be tidier that slapping it all in The Grave.

Ok you got my attention, Are you looking for the same or similar sub-fora in a location where only members can post? It is possible to set up sub-fora in The Grave section, however I would like to get a better idea of what exactly would be the need to have duplicate fora, with the only difference being one that only members can view.

The Grave was set up with the intent of giving members a place to pop off on any number of topics without the need to worry about being moderated. I don't know, that does not mean I am not willing to listen to ideas, what benefits there would be to duplicating what currently is available on the forum.

I read your OP and maybe it's just me but I don't entirely understand what you meant here. I get you can't play games, correct me if I am wrong here please, on the "company-man" part are you saying that you want somewhere to post the same things without being concerned that someone who, (from your company) casually reads or lurks the forum, (non-member type that is) would come across something that you posted. Please fill me in.

Again I am always open to listening to ideas to improve the forum, but please understand that I am not going to just do it without a better understanding of what the reasons are first.

I understand. Basically. I was thinking of a seperate forum with definate sections for specific topics OR alternatively sub-forums/stickies within the grave. I sometimes get a bit offensive about religion and politics, I feel strongly about some issues. I like the people on this forum and don't want to offend anyone unecessarily, therefore, if we have sub-sections/forum and people feel like they don't want to see a political thread, they can stay away from the politics area.

I'm not moaning about not being able to play games, but as I'm working for a company and not Direct Contract, I can technically be fired 'on a whim', although it's unlikely, I don't want to be rude to my 'bosses' at school, if they catch my playing games, it would cause an issue, I'm sure.

I think you're right that it can all be popped into 'The Grave', maybe I'm just making a fuss over nothing, or I'm anally retentive about pigeon-holing things.
