Graffic Deezine

Encountering problems/errors? Confused as to where functions are? Improvements? Is there something on the Englipedia website that is incorrect? Here's the place to let us know.

Yeah, the forum is kinda bulky in nature. It's the website that slimmed down to run fast on those dinosaurs.

more edits for homepage banner. shrunk the "sharing a little.." tagline like you suggested, then a few variations-
first here's a christmasy version:

and then i thought I'd let you see some ideas of where to hide ninja dude:

I like how stealthy he is in the last one, almost too stealthy. could make the glow around him a bit more visible..

I'm going to put up the Xmas banner now. Looks really nice!

As for all the Ninja banners, I like the first two and I like the last one and how stealthy it is. It took me a second to find it. Can you make him glow JUST a touch and see how that looks?

I don't necessarily like the third banner with the ninja on the side because it either looks like an after-thought or a secret button. But, that's just my opinion...

All that being said, nice job all around!

Sure - minus the lightbulb hat since there's no lightbulb here. Will try this evening and see how it looks...

Now, when you say "main site" and "main page" what do you mean? Are you talking the Englipedia site or the Englipedia forum?

If you're talking about the forum, the software won't allow to connect a link to the entire banner, hence the 'back arrow'.

Ahh, my mistake.

Main page and main site refer to the Englipedia site itself. I see the forum as little love child of the Englipedia site.

The forum is the love child of the main site...'cept the software I'm using won't allow me to do that. When I do a remake of the entire website, I'll add that option in.

Having more downtime at 1 school, so brought my macbook and have been brushing up on design. Dug up the site logo, cleaned it up a little and did some variations if anyone has use for them.

I'm game for any suggestions/requests for other versions/graphics. Or Otaku, if you have ideas for other seasonal versions of the main site header.?. Only a few days until I'm off for summer, but might check in a bit over break, and probably will have more downtime next semester too...

Based on one of the old logos:

This started reminding me of the ugly old Netscape Navigator logo:

And last, maybe I should link these because they're a bit large, a couple 1920x1200 desktop wallpapers:

I love you, Peet. Will you marry me? I can see the Netscape comet you made but still, it's refreshing. I'm always getting bored if stuff stays the same for long periods of time so I'm sure these graphics will start popping up here and there. :)

And, the wallpaper is now being used on my desktop.

Upcoming possibe banners ideas: back to school, undoukai, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Anyone else have any ideas?

off topic...

How did you jailbreak it? I had a friend who jailbroke hers and it worked overseas, but she was also charged international roaming charges. She had something like a 100,000 yen phone bill.

I aren't going to use it overseas.
There is a place to go to called http://www.jailbreakme.com

My IT guy mate assured me of it. It seriously takes about 15 seconds and all you have to do is press the GO button.
Check it out youtube and stuff first. My mate says to do it quickly before apple patch it.

I am immune to this bragging as I too have no classes this afternoon. Infact after the 3rd period all the teachers have meetings. So I too may go home and play with....IT!

As for the 'world wallpaper', don't know if you were doing it on purpose, but I think if you brought the lighbtbulb a little further south, you could make the glowing Japan look like the coils in a real lightbulb. Or, was that what you were already going for?

I was sort of going for that, but as a subtle reference without spending time to shape it into a more overt reference. Will revisit to see how it looks more coily :)

Also knocked out a Halloween banner today, but the bulb face looks a little deformed to me now. Might get him more symmetrical tomorrow:

took the liberty of adding a bad pun to the tagline

I'm not sure you need to tweak the shape of Japan? Simply shift the bulb downward? Dunno, you do what it is you're obviously really good at...

Halloween banner, simply put...awesomeness! The change in the tagline is quite hilarious. And the bulb is deformed? You must be more of a perfectionist than I am cuz' I don't see what you're your seeing. I love your brain though, turning a bulb into a skull...ingenius!

I see what the means about the bulb face, it could fly like that.

But the position (angle) of the face relative to the bulb which is going at a different angle throws it off just a tinge. Maybe fixed with a slight rotation, and a moving up of the face higher on the bulb. Or as he knows well he can used the warp tool and make it circular and form fitting around the bulb's surface. My take for what it is worth.

Great productivity peet!

Halloween banner edited slightly, and replaced (so the image linked a few posts up should show the update).

Started Thanksgiving and St.Patrick's Day banners on Friday:

I like the crazy turkey/lightbulb idea, but it was a quick first try and I might try some alternate versions of it. Maybe redo the face and try adding wings/legs??... And looking at the green one now on a Windows PC, the right side is a bit washed out...

Forgot to try editing the Wallpaper as Otaku suggested and don't have my macbook at work today; but will try to get some more updates before too long...

More brillance, Peet! I especially like the turkey. Hilarious!

I also like how in both of the banners how the leaves and clovers are floating around in the background.

COUPLE IDEAS:
1. Feel free to keep changing the "Sharing a little..." text if you want. Maybe something like, and of course I'm just thinking outloud: "Clucking a little, gaining a lot." "Sharing a little, gaining a 4-leaf clover."
2. What's up with the orange 'dia' color in the St. Patrick banner? Was that done on purpose or was it left over from the Turkey banner? My guess, is that St. Patrick's comes from Ireland and you're representing the Irish flag?
3. Do you think it would be too cheezy to turn the lightbulb area in St. Patrick's banner into a clover? Too much?
4. Finally, you have probably already thought about this but this idea has to do with all the theme-based banners. Do you think we should keep something in each of the banners static, aka doesn't change? I was thinking that 'thing' could be the Japan country and it's bright yellow color? So, in the Halloween, and Thanksgiving banner, the country would change back to yellow? I don't know, what do you think? Once again, I'm just thinking outloud. You be the pro...

BTW, I have one of your wallpapers on my home computer, the other one on my school computer and am starting to use some of the other Englipedia images throughout the site. :)

Thanks for the ideas.
My thoughts on each:

1. Cool. Halloween one was easy. I'll think about others (more suggestions welcome)
2. Yeah - Irish Flag- but if that's not instantly obvious, then it will probably just look weird. I'll try some others.
3. Didn't try that yet. I did try making the lightbulb green but it was ugly. I'll try a clover.
4. I wasn't so much picking specific elements not to change, but rather trying to keep [x] number of elements from the normal banner intact. But yeah, if I/we choose which elements to keep intact, then it would probably make the new designs easier, working with set parameters. Good idea. Will try the Japan map color for now...

Just one last comment about the Irish Banner, I think the only reason the orange color looked a bit weird is because it was next to the Thanksgiving Banner. I think sitting by itself, the colors are perfect.

I actually had to think about why the orange was in there...then it dawned on me. Brilliant, I thought! And I think anyone who sees the banner and figures it out will think the same thing. It's the visible but invisible little things that impress me as I'm sure everyone else.
