Forum technical burps, hiccups and or difficulties!

Postby Paul on Sat May 16, 2009 6:43 am

First off I would like to thank everyone that posts anything here that makes us all aware of what's happening with the forum. If you notice something "wrong" when using the forum please, pretty please with sugar on top, let "The Team" know what you found little or big and if possible where you found it at too.

Thanks again....I'll start....... :o

I noticed that when you click the Members button at the top of the page you go to the list of members here, however the list is not in alphabetical order but rather in order of sign up to the forum. Ok fine if that's the case what's the point of having an abc listing choice available as an option on the menu for that page?

Maybe not a glitch but just an example of what I was referring to in my paragraph above. Big or small it doesnt matter feel free to add anything. Thanks!

I noticed that when I hit the New Posts button no posts showed up even though there were a number of forums that did in fact have new posts in them.

1st of all. GOOD THREAD!!! VERY GOOD!

this happens when you login once and somehow logout again or get logged out or delete your cookie. If you then login again and go to the VIEW NEW POSTS page, you only see all new posts between your last logout and the present (the old ones get kicked out). so if there was no new post in that timeframe nothing shows up.
you have to manually klick yourself through the forums.

When you click on the Members button it's not in alphabetical order, but if you click on USERNAME, the list gets sorted into alphabetical order. I actually think having the 'abc listing' option is nice and this is why. If you click into the member section and the names were automatically sorted into alphabetical order, having the the 'abc listing' present as well kinda seems like a double redundancy thing to me. Having the 'abc listing' present, while at the same time sorting the member list in some other way than alphabetical order kinda gives the user a two-for-one option.

In other words, if I am going into the member list to look for a specfic somebody, I would probably click directly on the letter of that somebody in the 'abc listing'. There would be no reason to browse the member list. However, if I've been surfing the forum for awhile and then want to look up a member but can't remember their name, chances are it would be easier to look them up via who had joined the forum the most recently.

Does that make sense or have I just confused you even more?

All of a sudden here tonight all I can see is my own avatar and neither regardo's or otaku's? Something up or did you guys just suddenly decide to get rid of them at the same time? :blackeye:

I just realized it is everyone's and not just you two.

Two things I've seen qwirky within the last few days:

1. Avators are sometimes missing.
2. Attachments aren't loading.

I wanna stay positive and think that the server is getting ready to load updates to it so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed. ;) I'm all over the qwirks like the a salary man in a snack bar.

I would like to add this. Is it a burp? Never saw it before so I thought to share it here with everyone.

I got that, a confirmation code request, when I was making a reply to Sushi's post a bit earlier.

Can not recall ever seeing it before.

Sorry about the 24, I don't have anything to do except for upload activities to the website and try and break high scores. Needless to say, I can only upload so much before I need a break.

BTW, there is one other issue I am trying to get resolved, and that can be found in the Private Messages area. In people's inboxes right now, there is black font on blackish background and it's hard to read. But, it should be resolved shortly...

On the top left of the page after signing in there are some links under the light bulb. There was a link that said view your posts. Now it's gone.

Aahhh, the forum recently went through a huge behind-the-scenes upgrade and still working all the kinks out. It should be fixed soon.

poll function is borked,

are 2 search fields per page necessary?

latest/top search results are meaningless clutter.

Try the poll function now. I manually turned on the poll option in all the forums.

As for the search bar, I'm actively pursuing getting it removed. I feel the same way as you Tengu.

todays top searches

Latest global searches: coltania de philips dedefeito vampir power688 tapete plastico grama sushi asura strike double sword gimp image button hover
Top global searches: damon dark sodomizing jesus Postmodern simulacrum fisting nuns god hates us all anorak zone

10 points if you can make a sentence using all those words.

The pages load really slow.

The site logs you out after a short period of inactivity, if it logs you out whilst you are typing a long reply, when you hit submit it tells you to log in then returns you to the submit page again with all your text missing.

I don't have the power to remove the searches but I have made a huge stink about it, so hopefully it will get removed.

I'm also checking into what you said about the auto log-outs. Other forum admins have been saying the same thing lately. I'll check into it.

wow this site is so incredibly slow at time, like over 1 minute to load a page (FF, IE, C) When it is in that state it slows loading times on any other tabs using the same sandbox. Same under Visa, w7 and ubuntu.

Presently, there are a ton of admins hashing it out with the forum provider about the recent changes that everyone hates. My guess is the provider is working on making some of these changes. Sorry about that, Tengu.
