adding a video to a post

Postby Paul on Fri Dec 10, 2010 5:15 pm

Recently I have been having a hell of a time trying to add a video to my posts using the video tab, a box shows up with all the options to check, but it pops up at the very bottom of my screen and when I attempt to scroll down to add the url the pop up video box doesnt allow me to scroll to the bottom and it just sits there and kind of flutters.

There are two scroll down bars if you follow me, one on the pop up box and the other for scrolling down the entire screen. When I scroll down the entire screen the video pop up box flutters at the bottom of the screen too and doesnt allow me access to inputting the url either.

Hit the print screen button on your keyboard, open up a word file or something similar, right click the mouse, paste the document, save it, and then add it as an attachment to your post.

If it is too large of a file, upload it to photobucket or some other server, and paste the link here as an image.

I'm seeing that too on Windows/Chrome. Looks like a web design bug in how that pop-up window is coded. Maybe Otaku knows how to fix, or can contact the forum developers for a bug fix.

But there's also a workaround (at least for youtube, should be similar for other video sites) if you type the code yourself. Put the video address between a "youtube" BBcode tag:
Code: Select all
Code is hidden from guests, please register and login to view it

To post a video, simple copy your youtube link.

Click "Post Reply". Click the "Video" button.

Click the radio button for YouTube.

Scroll down to past your url.

It's that simple.

Here's the tricky thing. After you've submitted your post, you can't edit your post again otherwise the video option doesn't work anymore. It's a gliche I'm trying to get rectified.

Or, you can do what Peet just posted, which might be simplier if you're having problems.

I

I guess my OP was difficult to understand, sorry Otaku but it isnt "simple" because like I wrote in the OP here when the dialoge box opens up to select which video you want to add it sets up at the very bottom of the page and does not allow the page to scroll down to the box to include the url linking to the video.

I have posted countless numbers of video's here before and never had a problem with doing so with the way you wrote here, until that is I wrote the OP dated btw December 10th 2010.

My attachment shows the box at the bottom of the screen, removing my taskbar as well does not allow the inclusion of the url entry space either.

I hope that clarifies things better. I am using Chrome btw if that matters.

Sorry, didn't check out your screen shot before I posted. From the looks of it, you simply need to scroll your BROWSER screen down some to see the bottom section that got cut off.

See attachment for as to what I'm talking about...

I had the same problem in Chrome. It doesn't let you scroll down far enough, because the bottom of the pop-up is below/cut-off by the main window (even in you scroll down in the main window, the pop-up repositions itself to always be cut-off).

But I just tried in IE8 and it works fine in IE, just not Chrome :(

Thank you Peet, I am glad to see that I am not off my rocker here.

Edited to add here this AM.....

I tried using Explorer and it set up fine, however I really do not like using IE because it often times hangs up and stops responding and is not reliable for me to use. I hope that informe type folks can work out a fix and make things easier here to use with Chrome.

Nothing personal here Otaku, from my OP,
