Next, the father needs to be treated in kind, but since he is Dad, supposedly an adult, make the distance double, or 80 Km and make sure it's in the dead of winter and at nighttime as well. Give him a police escort along the way that he would have to pay for out of his pocket as well.

I suggest if he's travelling as far as stated, he'd cross undulating terrain and forested areas, even if he doesn't, he could use a pay-phone or pop into a cop-shop. I'm half-serious, I was never picked up from school, I had to make my own way back by bus or walking. I was only about 8 miles but one winter in 1996, a blizzard kicked in, none of the buses were running and I walked home in knee-deep snow just wearing my school uniform and a thin coat.

Kids don't need to be coddled all the time, obviously, the kid shouldn't have been left by his father, but I think people view children as precious things these days...too precious.

azuhl I walked back and forth to school in the dead of winter in Wisconsin as well, but at least I had proper clothing. This kid's Dad is an idiot.
