The site and forum is only as good as the people contributing to it so I think a huge "thanks!" should go out to everyone helping and/or contributing to it.
I think the unique thing about the forum and one of the things that make it so special is:
1.) How it is run. It was setup to not be prefecture-specific. I wanted to build a general forum that would crossover prefectural lines AND one that would connect ALL ALTs, no matter who they work for. Also, I wanted to create a positive environment forum where people could come and hang out. Other forums are either prefecture-specific and/or have a ton of trolls mixed into the general population. Here on the Englipedia Forum, we try to snipe trolls before they get too far out of hand (a.k.a. Tengu, if anyone remembers, permanently banned).
2.) Connected to a huge teaching resource. Other forums have a little bit of resources but without a wealth of ideas, a forum is just a place to come and talk. The Englipedia Forum was setup to be a supplimental resource to the main site. You know, give the users of the site a place to come and talk and whatnot. Basically, increasing the communication between the people who build the site, use it, and anyone who else wants to join into the community (a.k.a. Jeimizu). Everyone is welcome, teachers or not, as long as they aren't a troll.
3. The people who contribute to the forum. This is one of the most valuable things about the forum. For some reason, which I still haven't figured out why, the forum has attracted an eclectic handful of ALTs who have a variety of talents and have donated those talents to help improve the forum/site. Our jobs aren't a career type of job, so building a community is quite hard when the turnover rate is pretty high. But, a handful of us have come together and are building a pretty cool little place for others to hang out and talk. We are the pioneers to the future generations of ALTs. The only place the site/forum is going is UP. :)

Okay, back to building the new textbooks area...
