Made in... vs. We made...

Postby Otaku on Thu Aug 27, 2009 1:27 pm

It seems lately like a lot of teachers at school have been really want to teach me about The Japan but I don't like how they have been going about it. I keep hearing, "Japan made it" or "We made it". Up to now, I've just turned a blind eye and ignored these types of statements because I think it sounds a little arrogant or pious. Lately, I've been trying to flip-the-script and think about how I would talk about things back home. I would NEVER say "Americans or the U.S. made it." I would simply say, "It was made in America."

When you talk about things that were made in your home country, how do you go about telling where it is from?

id say if the Japanese government made something, then youcould say "japan made..."

if ther person you are speaking to made something with his buddies then its ok to say "we made..."

next time someone says "we made..." to you id just ask them all about the production process, how long it took, and who they worked with etc.

The following is a way id tell people where something is from.
Faygo is a brand of soda made in michigan. It is often drank by ICP fans and juggalos, possibly because it is a cheap local beverage.

Just more of the 'Us' mentality, more dumb nihonjinron, it's a shame we don't have japan made intestines, if we did we might be able to enjoy japanese made food like the japanese do.

Just tell them they can don't have to thank you for the lightbulbs WE made which allow them to see what they made at night.

According to wiki:

Here's an interesting list of things made in Japan.

As you all undoubtedly know, we use the passive when we want to draw focus to the object of the sentence. These listed inventions were conceived in Japan. The active voice is used when we want to express our nihonjinron ;)
