Does political correctness have any roots other than shame?

Postby Gibbons on Sat Sep 12, 2009 9:19 pm

In my experience, white Americans tend to become very uncomfortable and lash out viciously when we get into that dangerous area of discussing prejudice.

Maybe some of us left our countries because our culture and history sicken us. Maybe some of us feel nervous when we see an Icelandic cross the street and the guilt consumes us. A few things are clear though: the Jews own all the menorahs and the blacks don't blush.

I never really experienced the era of being PC in the US. To me a fat person is still fat and not gravitationally challenged.

I still open doors for women, and let "ladies" go first. If that makes me politically incorrect then so be it, I can live with myself.

I try to live by the golden rule most of the time, treat others as you want to be treated.

If you only let them go first so you can comment on their ass, that's impolite though.

Well I guess it depends on how large or otherwise that ass may be. :moon:

I never comment, I may think a few things along the way, but no never comment. :stud:

You raise a good point though Gibbons.

In my opinion people are or have become overly sensitive to issues regarding anything PC. People are again my opinion here, almost afraid to say what they are thinking out of fear of any legal proceedings that may come out of what they have said.
