Christmas Plans

What are your plans? Anyone going back home? As for me, I will be here for Christmas and then for about a week I will be in Guam for the New Years.

At 4 am on the 23rd December we will hit the road from Yamagata up to Aomori to get the ferry to Hokkaido. Chilling out at the parents in law for a week or so, then back down.

Where in Hokkaido are you heading? I have been there twice when I was in the navy. But only to Sapporo. I loved it there. Wouldn't mind seeing the Ice festival the have up there in the winter. But I hate cold weather.

Have a party planned for the 10th, other than that, nothing really, just going to decorate, get some presents, a tree and have a cosy, warm time in the apt.

Spending the Saturday before Christmas getting sloshed with the guy who owns the yakitori shop in the next city. As for new years I am getting sloshed with the family that runs the local izakaya. Got to love the holidays and the open excuse to drink.

Chilling with my g/f and friends. Maybe do a little snowboarding. I already know one of my presents: a 3 ltr. bottle of Jack Daniels.

I love you Jack...

I've got Napolean coming over with his friends Cutty, Chivas, and Johnnie's Red and Black.

The Royal Canadian's with their Crown and some dude named Otard might be coming after he finishes work at the department store. I am personally hoping that Lord Hennessy along with his friend Jim and Jack from Knob Creek manage to make it with Master Harper. He's only 12 so he's going to have to sit with the kids.

Don't know if his baby-sitter Ms Bacardi, will let him out this year. She's pretty strict you know, and damn she packs a wallop when she's on. Not too sure about Jose, but I am sure my wife will be happy if Margarita shows then the party will really be hoping.

We have a couple of guests expected from Europe as well, Mr Glenfidich, and Mr. Glenlivet will be here after dinner and right when we are ready for the Cuban cigars.

And to start things off right I know the stars are going to be shining with Orion showing up. I just hope that Mr Heineken doesn't go all green on us again this year. Last year he was all over the place and it was such a mess cleaning up after him.

Miss Tylenol and Miss Motrin will show on on the 26th sometime after the football game.

Akiko's parents live halfway between Otaru and Sapporo. I will be spending at least one afternoon at the Otaru Brewery. They are the purveyors of the finest standard of beer, I will tell you that for nothing. Hokkaido kicks arse. We are a bit early for the snow festival.

It always was, and still is now, my assertion that you are suppose to drink that stuff before you start drinking not after.

edited to add that we should rename this thread to show that it is mostly about alcohol

It is suppose to stop a hang over. So drinking it before does nothing. But drinking it after you drink, before you go to sleep. Is when it help. I usually end my night before going to bed with some aspirin and ukon. Works wonders when I wake up.

According to what I have been reading on the net (not the most reputable source I know) the company that sells it says you can drink it before, during or after drinking alcohol and it will still have the same effect. In the few personal blogs I read, most people drink it before because they said it prepares the stomach and body for a night of drinking. I am along that line as well. Though I did have a friend that would drink it before and after just in case.

The only preventative to a hangover is don't drink! Says the man who enjoys a sip or two! We have something here called Ryukyu Bakudan

Quick advice:
For those who could not take much alcohol, take it before going to the party.
For those who could drink a lot of alcohol, take after the party.

ryukyu bakudan sounds more like something that would cause a hangover than something that would get rid of it.

I've used it a few times and to tell the truth I didnt notice much of a difference. I do have to say though that my size plays a HUGE part in how medicines and stuff like this work or don't. I usually have to take twice what an average sized person uses.

Mooloo, that is one of the better written stories I have read in a long time about someone's experiences here in Okinawa. Nothing political and not too touristy, just right. Thank you!

Good old H20 is by far the best way to prevent hangovers, it helps to top up the water in your system that you lose overnight. A pint or two of water before heading to bed has always worked wonders for me.

They use to tell us that in the military. They use to say for ever drink you have, have a glass or 2 of water. for me that only takes the fun out of drinking and makes me sober.

We in Okinawa have perfected the art of mixing water and alcohol.

Awamori is mixed with water, generally 30%-70% water to awamori. Some idiots though when mixing like to change the percentages around to 90% -10% the other direction. :die:
